Miah Stroud started this petition to Governor Gretchen Whitmer and

Miah Stroud is an innocent young woman who at the young age of 21 had her freedom stolen from her through police misconduct, coercion, a questionable line-up selection and fabricated testimony.

Miah has spent over 9 years in prison for a crime she did not commit or have any involvement in whatsoever. She was wrongfully sentenced to 25 years behind bars. Miah should be exonerated as she is innocent.

Miah is a good daughter, Miah was looking for her sister and all witness statements and court documents will reflect this.

Miah is a very loving, positive, family-focused woman who spreads positivity to everyone she comes across. She was focused on being a devout daughter, sister, auntie, friend who only wanted to see her friends and family happy and doing well and had never previously been in any trouble with the law.

Here are 10 reasons why Miah Stroud should be exonerated:

1. Miah is an innocent woman

2. All witness statements only state that Miah was searching for her mentally challenged sister who had been beaten and sex trafficked off at the time who had been missing for over a month which is not a crime, it’s being a good family member.

3. There is no evidence of a plan or premeditated idea which is why Miah was not found guilty of premeditated murder.

4. Miah has evidence that she had no involvement with the crime in which she Wass convicted.

5. Before being incarcerated, Miah was a full-time employee at Menlo Logistic had just received a promotion and worked part-time at Threat Management Body Guard Services.

6. Since being incarcerated she has received her G.E.D., got certificates in the following: Healing Trauma, Anxiety & Depression, Anger Management, Stress Management, Restoring Broken People, Michigan’s Legal Writer Program, HIV/STD Peer Educator, Prison Rape Elimination Act Peer Educator, Prisoner Observation Aide, Prison Palliative Care/ Hospice Care Program, Narcotics Anonymous, Domestic Violence, Domestic Violence Facilitation, Housing Unit Representative & Attitude Adjustments (Contact: 313-586-2240) showing that she is focused on becoming a positive, contributing member of society upon her release and will carry everything that she’s learned into society.

7. Miah is currently attending Jackson College to earn a Bachelors of Business degree while she also mentors young women in the Attitude Adustment Youth Program in Detroit, Michigan.

8. Miah was never given the opportunity to tell her side of the story prior to her arrest and never received an interrogation from the lead detective on her case in order to share her side of the story.

9. Miah has no previously run-ins with the law, had previously never been arrested and had never shown herself to be threatening to others.

10. The facts that Miah’s defense team has uncovered show that Miah Stroud is an innocent woman who had her freedom wrongfully taken from her.

Miah’s dreams were snatched away and shattered in a blink of an eye. She was never given a fair chance to prove her innocence. All she wants is for the facts to be reviewed and justice given on the merits of the facts leading to her release from prison.
