Urbandale City Council/Public Works Department: Fix Waterford Road

You can light up our water tower 24/7, but you can't fix our road? Really?
The area along Waterford Road is expanding rapidly with new development, particularly in the new Waterford Landing housing development. The portion of the road in the city of Urbandale is in extremely poor condition structurally now, and despite repeated attempts to patch it, the road will only get worse as traffic levels inevitably grow. It is not currently scheduled for an overhaul, with public works saying it will be until at least 2016, possibly later until major work occurs. Given the current state of the road, this is unacceptable.
Also, while circulating the petition multiple people let me know that they would like to see the 1/2 mile portion between Urbandale and Grimes to be annexed and subsequently paved. Multiple signers of the petition have stated that in their comments. I concur with their opinions, as the area is going to need a much better connection between Urbandale and Grimes/the Interstate soon with the current and expected future levels of development. The 1/2 mile gravel portion (in unincorporated Dallas County) is constantly in extremely poor condition as well, and traffic levels on the road likely have a lot do do with it. To build new development and not plan for the infrastructure needs of the area before doing so is completely unacceptable. Something must be done.
