A change in dress code policy for Upson Lee Middle and High School

I believe the schools and administrators need to put more focus on the students mental well-being and education rather than putting immense attention towards minor dress code policies that inconvenience parents, faculty and students. There needs to be a more considerate way of addressing any violations that don’t humiliate and ostracize the students, cause them to miss meals, or class. They need to be recognized as human beings, treated with respect and their mental well-being should be considered more when bringing violations to their attention. The dress code polices need be amended and new polices should be put into place that reflect the times we are living in now, the styles the students enjoy wearing, and what is currently being sold in stores. There is a lot of gray area that needs to be considered when enforcing these one size fits all, black and white rules and I trust administrators can gather together to adjust these policies so that students can where the styles they wish while still being appropriate for their ages and enjoy coming to school for what they’re actually there for, which is to learn. Not to be policed for their fashion choices.
