PA Parents Against Sexually Explicit Books for Children

PA Parents Against Sexually Explicit Books for Children
Why this petition matters
According to Pennsylvania Statutes Title 18 Pa.C.S.A. Crimes and Offenses § 5903. Obscene and other sexual material distributed to minors is a felony.
A lot of parents have expressed their concern with the books UPSD has in their libraries. We are asking that the books be removed or parental permission slips be given to the parents for those who allow their children to read such material.
The Books on trial are:
All Boys Aren’t Blue
The Bluest Eye
Beyond Magenta
Out of Darkness
Here is the PA state criminal law for all those who are unaware of why this is a problem. Are we now teaching our children to break laws? Are we okay with raising children to think felonies are okay? Are we okay with exposing young minds to filth? I’m not okay with this and I want my children to know that as an American we must follow the laws of the land and be upstanding citizens. There are many other ways to teach children about tough topics without perverting their minds and grooming them.
PA Criminal Law Title 18
§ 5903. Obscene and other sexual materials and performances.

(2) any book, pamphlet, magazine, printed matter however reproduced, or sound recording which contains any matter enumerated in paragraph (1), or explicit and detailed verbal descriptions or narrative accounts of sexual excitement, sexual conduct, or sadomasochistic abuse and which, taken as a whole, is harmful to minors.
