Upgrade Bancroft Park Playground, Kelvin Grove

Upgrade Bancroft Park Playground, Kelvin Grove
Why this petition matters
Bancroft Park playground in Kelvin Grove was damaged in the 2022 floods in Brisbane.
The shade sails, swings and shelters were not damaged and remain.
Council removed the damaged play structure (slide structure) and replaced the woodchips to reopen the park but have not replaced/repaired the BBQ or provided a new structure/slide in the playground. The playground is very bare of equipment. The scooter track around the outside would benefit from painting and potentially enhancing.
The cricket pitch needs high pressure cleaning and the damage to the cricket oval from the turkeys needs repairs as well as weeding of the oval. In its current state it is not particularly safe for community cricket (there are local teams that train at this facility as well as Brisbane North cricket using it for Saturday competitions.
This park gets a lot of use by the local community and has not had a significant upgrade for a very long time.
The community understands that it is next to the creek but know that there are many flood resistant options that could be done in the space to make it a wonderful space for the children in our community. There are many flood resistant playgrounds in Brisbane including Frew Park at Milton.
The community also understands that council has just upgraded the nearby Balun park - however this is less accessible and as such far less utilised. Ie: not easy to host a kids party there.
