UoL Chemistry department to move ALL in-person exams to online
When exams were first decided to be carried out in person, the individual risk to COVID was marginally smaller than what it is today. The universities decision to put students through in-person exams for the assessment period of January 2022 is unfair and unjust. Currently, the North-West of England has one of the highest infection rates (surpassing London) with over 2,000 people being infected for every 100,00 and cases rising every day. Yet exams are still set to be taken in person. It has even been made acceptable to remove your mask during the exam which may make students and staff highly uncomfortable. We also can not rely on that everyone in the exam hall and on-campus will have been vaccinated and are adhering to the guidance of testing before attending the exam.
Recent guidance has been released by RSC to say that our degree accreditation will be absolutely fine with online exams so we see no reason as to why they arent.
