Hello everyone. Hope you're all doing fine in the times of the pandemic and the lockdown.
While these are tough times for us, and everyone, and every authority, be it local or national, are trying to make things easier for people, we've all received notifications from our college regarding the payment of the fee for the 2020-2021 annual year. The payment that is actually due at the end of the 6th semester is being demanded from us now and we've been given a deadline. What's more absurd is that the college authorities have raised the fee from 48k that is mentioned in the brochure to a hefty sum of 71k without any addition in services or without providing any prior notice. The fee hike is simply an absurd Nd a non-negotiable demand on behalf of the college authorities and it is impossible for majority of us to pay 71k. Infact, the college itself owes us the money that we all have already paid for boot camp, fest and other activities that did not take place this year. So, they are not just holding back that amount, they're also trying to extract almost 72k from us during these tough times when most of us can't afford such a hike. Keeping all of this in consideration, we've decided to form a students union/association that will represent the entire student population of MIET, with members and representatives from every department to talk to the competent authorities and put forward our grievances. Incase the authorities fail to entertain or take any action upon our requests, we'll organise a joint protest. Our last alternative will be to engage a third party like media or our own Jammu and Kashmir state admininstration. We will furthermore be forced to contact students organizations to counter the authorities. We have currently a strength of almost 200+ students who have joined this collective movement. We request all of you to join us as this is a mutual issue for everyone right now. Together we need to stand against this brutal bullying and harrassment of students! Lets all unite against this injustice!
