As a worker for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, I stand in solidarity with the students and student-workers who are fighting for racial justice at their University. It is time for Chancellor Blank to start listening to the voices of Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

I'm signing as a PhD student, TA, and PA. Listen to your students. Listen to your staff. Listen to your faculty. It's time.

As a black alumna of UW-Madison’s graduating class of 2017, I stand with today’s Badgers demanding justice, equity, safety, and a higher quality of life for themselves.

I’m signing because my whiteness shouldn’t give me an advantage on campus.

I am not signing because your demands are stupid.Go to some other country and see how far you get trying to change their history and form of government. You would be farther ahead to look back and attempt to understand why race relations are at this point and how they got this way.In other words, take responsibility for your own actions like the rest of us poor, dumb Americans do.Quit whining!

I want my alma mater to start listening to BIPOC and start implementing REAL change, not easy change. I am tired of opening up the newspaper and reading articles about my former students being harassed, ignored, and belittled by students and staff. It is time to do the hard work and figure out how you are part of the problem and then work to change.

This institution perpetuates and upholds white supremacist ideology that unequivocally harms Black people, Native people and people of color. If this institution stands with what they say then you WILL hear our demands, you WILL respond and you WILL honor these BASIC requests. Considering we BIPOC make up a small percentage of the student body, ignoring our voices speaks volumes to the intentions and interests of the UW Madison WI. SHAME.
