Fairness towards Nursing students at UWC

Fairness towards Nursing students at UWC
Why this petition matters
Nursing students of the University of Western Cape have been and still are experiencing unfair treatment from the School of Nursing Department with regard to their clinical hours and the deficit letter that is required by the department every time they need to work back their missed hours. Students are expected to have at least 80% of their clinical hours before they can qualify to sit for their exams and 100% of their clinical hours to progress to their next year, but the department refuses to issue them deficit letters.
Students face up different challenges through out their life in University and have different aspects to fulfil, which that also accounts to the reasons why students are at times unable to go to their clinical placements. Every time when student try to get deficit letters they are often dismissed as they are requested to provide sick note which is really absurd because that is not the only reason students miss their hours. often in attempts to provide valid reasons for their absenteeism they are not given an ear.
We then demand that the current status quo of issuing deficit letters be revoked! All students deserve to be granted an opportunity to work back their hours so Please sign this petition to help resolve the issue
