Tracey Tanaka started this petition to University of West London

We, the final year students of 2020 are struggling to continue with our studies at this present moment. We are facing job losses, family pressures, lack of quiet places to study in, mental health issues, international strandings, lack of participants to complete our research, distance from friends and classmates and sever financial hardship, to name a few. Many of us have spent thousands to study at university and the rest face years of debt to repay student loans. Some people have been infected with the Covid-19 virus without having access to being tested or treated for the virus and are unable to provide adequate evidence to obtain meaningful extensions.

Some of us are international students who are currently stranded away from friends and family without access to finance or jobs. Some of us have lost our homes because we are ill and our landlord has asked us to go elsewhere. Some students do not have access to the internet at home or an adequate computer to complete our assessments. Some students Visas will expire before we are able to graduate.

We have looming deadlines for assessments and no access to face-to-face teaching or a library atmosphere to collaborate with other students or work quietly alone. We are frequently also unable to access our online education platform or get contact with our supervisors. With news of our graduation being cancelled, many of us have lost motivation. Still more of us have no access to counselling or support.

We are requesting that the University of West London grants all final year students on any course be granted an extension to their dissertation of at least one month, if not more.

Thankyou for your support.
