The State of Israel has been labeled an apartheid state by a number of notable human rights organizations including The Human Rights Watch and B'Tselem (an Israeli human rights group). Each of them has published extensive reports explaining how it is guilty of these crimes against humanity. Israel has also violated 28 International laws, the 4th Geneva convention, humanitarian and human rights law as well as the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. 

Israeli universities are major, willing and persistent accomplices in Israel’s regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid. They are involved in developing weapon systems and military doctrines deployed in Israel’s recent war crimes in Lebanon and Gaza, justifying the ongoing colonization of Palestinian land, rationalizing gradual ethnic cleansing of indigenous Palestinians, providing moral justification for extra-judicial killings, systematically discriminating against “non-Jewish” students, and other implicit and explicit violations of human rights and international law.

We call on the University of Waterloo to end its relationship with Tel Aviv University and implement BDS until Israel starts abiding by international and humanitarian law.
