Urge Warwick Uni to take action against coronavirus
Why this petition matters
The coronavirus has already infected more than 7 people in Coventry and Warwickshire. It is now a matter of fact that the Covid-19 outbreak will directly confront our daily lives. Still, the University of Warwick is yet to take any concrete action to address this situation at hand.
What we are experiencing right now is a deadly virus in the face of government failure. Confirmed cases in the UK now stands at over 300. A staggering figure, when one considers that a week ago the virus was nearly of no one's concern, and that up to that point the NHS had been claiming that there was no risk of an outbreak in the UK. The UK has failed to prevent the plague.
Although the coronavirus seems to run a relatively low death rate, it is horrifying for any authorities to use this as an excuse to refuse further actions. Warwick uni authorities should by now realise the full horror of the disease, and act to prevent the outbreak, including providing hygiene facilities around schools, extra cleaning, mask supplies, and potentially to close down the school if the situation gets worse.
It is too late to prevent an epidemic across the country, but it is still possible to limit the amount of infections at Warwick. As long as we act with steadfastness and prudence. Please sign this petition to urge the uni to take deliberate measures.
