Johanna Lopez started this petition to University of texas rio grande valley

This petition is to stop the use of Lockdown Browser with camera in order to compensate for the mental health of students.

Almost 30,000 students attend the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, UTRGV. Almost one year ago, students were forced to continue their education via remote learning. According to edweek.org, several students are struggling with remote learning. Also, many of these students are developing a form of mental illness and the UTRGV faculty are not compensating. According to the American Psychological Association, online learning is taking a toll the student's mental health. Many are developing anxiety or depression, and the professors are just assigning more coursework and requiring Lockdown Browser for exams.

I understand the professors want to ensure students are learning, however, times are different. We are in a pandemic and this is also causing a mental toll on students. The use of lockdown browser, especially with camera are stressing students out. Several students already have anxiety, but to have a camera on you at all times while taking an exam is stressful. Many students have weird habits such as staring off while thinking and points are deducted as a result.

Sign this petition to gain justice for students struggling with mental health.
