UT Campus Safety: Emergency Call Boxes

UT Austin, one of the largest universities in the state of Texas, is home to over 50,000 students. Due to recent events and the increased concern of overall campus safety, the large volume of students, who are on campus at any given moment, need to be able to contact the police. Currently, the campus spans over 431 acres and possesses only 174 emergency call boxes. As a student, this simply does not feel like enough call boxes. I feel as if I rarely spot them on campus. An increase in the number of call boxes would allow the students an accessible and precise way to alert the police. This equals a better response time and increased campus safety.
