Every semester, each student is charged with athletic fees to help fund UT's athletic department. Keep in mind this is no small fee. It can get up to $200 or more! The school has recently passed out a voting for raising these prices on everyone! It is not fair to us who are NOT apart of the sporting program or the athletic department! I am tired of being charged for things I don't use! You should be too! That is money coming out of your own pocket! My financial aid didn't cover me last semester and the Athletic fee was a part of this reason! I was charged around $190 dollars for the program. These fees should be sent to students who ARE apart of the Sports department! They would feel the same way if the lab fees were charged to them! Fight with me against this charge! This is money we could be using for our OWN tuition fees! We could be using the extra money for books! Let's show UT and every University out there that it is NOT okay to charge us for things we aren't apart of. For things we don't participate in or use! I say we fight this until we are heard! Schools charge us extra fees because they know most of us don't look at what we are being charged! Let's change that! I have added a photo of my charged from Fall 2021! As you can see, I did NOT participate in ANY athletic classes or sports! I never have! I tried messaging the office about this and you know what they said? "The athletic fee is a University fee charged to all students to support the D2 Athletics program." That is NOT fair! Let's stand together to show these schools that we will no longer accept them taking our money just to benefit their needs. Our needs matter too! College is already expensive, so let's fight the extra fees that are stealing our hard earned money from us!
