In my first semester at the University of Texas at Austin, I suffered from severe depression and panic disorder which halted me to partake in classes fully without throwing up or having panic attacks. I looked up various methods to help me cope and found that a service dog certified for these symptoms helps a lot with recovery The only problem is that these types of service dogs are not allowed to be in classes. Other types of service dogs are allowed, but none for depression and panic disorder. I hope for this petition to reach UT and other colleges so that other students facing these hard roadblocks can get another method to help them on the road to recovery. Depression is not easy no matter what level a person has it, so let's get another method to combat it!
