Get Metallica to Play Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

Recently, Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN hosted world renowned country singer Garth Brooks. According to WBIR Channel 10 in Knoxville, the show broke records becoming the largest stadium show in the southeast United States with over 84,846 in attendance, and the stadium wasn't completely filled. The stadium's official capacity is 102,455.

I have created this petition to challenge that record and bring heavy metal band, Metallica, to the forefront. As one of the highest selling rock bands in the last 30+ years, they have been known to perform before crowds of over a million.

I think bringing Metallica to East Tennessee would highlight a different genre, compete with other musical acts, and shed a positive light on East Tennessee. With their tour setup, I believe we can bring 90,000 attendees to Neyland Stadium and the Knoxville region which would in turn bring millions of dollars in revenue to the community and surrounding counties.

With Metallica touring all of the major metal festivals in 2020, I believe 2020 or 2021 would be the ideal time to attempt to break the record currently held by Garth Brooks. However in general, the University of Tennessee should open Neyland Stadium to more touring acts and continue to attempt to break these records which in turn would be both a positive to both the University and the city of Knoxville.
