Although I support the University of Tennessee athletic deparment's policy of unifying Tennessee sports, the rich heritage of the Lady Vols should not be thrown by the wayside - The Lady Vols T represents so much more than just signifying that the 'Lady Vols' are a women's sports team, it represents a rich tradition and to me signifies a lot of the broader culture that Tennessee sports stands for.

I'm signing because the Tennessee Lady Vols program's have always been a storied program, and one which other colleges tried to be like. Pat Summitt and Joan Cronan have their handprints all over all of the Lady Vols programs. They opened the doors and allowed insight to what a very successful program looked like, knowing good and well that it would up the level of competition that the Lady Vols would face. To quote Coach Summitt "to be the best you have to compete against the best". That's why young girls grew up wanting to were that prestigious uniform that has Lady Volunteers on it. This wasn't just for the women's basketball team, but for all of the Lady Volunteers team's. I think that the University of Tennessee needs to not only bring back the Women's Athletics Director position, but also leave the name of Tennessee Lady Volunteers on all of their women's sport teams. That worked well before and I don't understand why the powers at be decided to make a change. Come on University of Tennessee, rise up and let everyone know that all women's sports are a profitable and important as the men's sports teams! Do the right thing and get rid of Mr. Hart!

Each you lady who participates in collegiate sports at the University of Tennessee earns the right to be called a Lady Vol. Any administrator who feels differently may resign as far as I am concerned.

I'm signing because the Lady Vols are exceptional. They have always been on top even when the rest of UT Athletics were not. They deserve to stay individual from the rest. They have earned that respect and for carring on the winning tradition that they hold so dear.

I'm among the women who had to fight for the right to play in the 60's & 70's. When we were given the right, we were also branded as LADY'S sports. Still not equal to male counterparts & always said with a smile/laugh.

I think removing it "sucks"
