Stop the Funding Cuts for USU Clubs and Societies

Stop the Funding Cuts for USU Clubs and Societies
Why this petition matters

In March 2019, the University of Sydney Union (USU) announced major funding changes to its Clubs and Societies (C&S). Under the new funding model, the USU provides merely $4 per attendee as opposed to the previous $6 (for external events). The overall amount of funding was lowered from $4000 to $3000 per year. (He, 2019)
As an executive of a USYD society, I've witnessed the strain this has put on us. No matter if how large the society or how small the club, it's been difficult to remain affordable for students. We don't want to charge sign-up fees, or price our event tickets upward, however, there are no other ways to make back the financial losses caused by these cuts.
The last thing any Club or Society wants to do is to alienate USYD students who cannot afford to attend. Reverting back to the previous model will significantly relieve us of these pressures and encourage C&S participation more greatly.
