This semester cannot be considered normal and shouldn’t affect our grades normally either. How am I supposed to get the same value from a lab practical class when I’m doing everything staring at my 17 inch laptop screen?

This semester displaced many students in terms of time zone as well. Students have class at 2 am and USC couldn’t notify students quickly enough due to LA county’s slow response.

Moving back to China this semester has forced me to make the choice between attending classes at unreasonable hours or watching recorded lectures without any interactions with professors and fellow classmates. As a result, I find it very difficult to concentrate during recorded lectures and keep track of assignments, which affects my GPA negatively. The online learning situation has impacted my physical and mental wellbeing as it is nearly impossible to keep a healthy sleeping schedule while struggling with academics in a different time zone. I hope USC would change the grading option this semester to help alleviate the stress of students who are struggling like me.
