USC Class of 2024 started this petition to University of Southern California Administration

The students in the class of 2024 and their parents have seen their high school graduations replaced with YouTube videos. We have watched as spring sports tournaments have been canceled. We did not have a Senior Prom, Senior Skip Day, or a Baccalaureate ceremony. Many of us did not have a final high school musical and have not seen our friends in months. Those high school milestones were moments in time, and we did not have the ability to defer them. As a result, our senior year was completed, not experienced.

Even though many of us have never been on campus, we are Trojans, through and through. We, the USC class of 2024 and others who back this petition, understand the critical importance of the safety measures that our leaders have enacted and are one hundred percent willing to do our part to keep our Trojan family safe and thriving.

However, we hope that the Trojan welcome experience, the magic of convocation, living in USC housing as a class – all of the hallmarked events in the life of a Trojan freshman – will be deferred until we, the USC class of 2024, can safely arrive on campus and live together in USC housing. With the assurance of not losing yet another major rite of passage at this time of our lives, we can settle in and focus on our classes and making new friends online.

Though we are freshmen, we hope to have a voice in the conversation, as we are not represented in student government or other groups where our opinions may be heard. Thank you for your attention and consideration of our request.
