Compensate International Students for Strike Action
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
We, the undersigned international students of the University of Sheffield, support our lecturers in their decision to strike. The strikes, however, have greatly impacted our educational experience in the UK and as a result, we demand £600 of compensation for every international student who loses contact time due to the strike action from the 22nd February to the 16th March 2018. This amount thus is a fair share of the huge sum of £18,000 (or even higher) annual tuition fee that we already pay to this university.
We would also like to call on the university to re-enter negotiations with the UCU to achieve a fair pension system for our lecturers. Upon refusing to do this we demand a proportional refund of tuition for the disruption caused to our education by the strikes, in solidarity with the striking staff.
