I don’t necessarily believe that all classes should be pass or fail at this time but allowing students to have the option to do so during such a difficult time seems so intuitive to me. We are not “working from home” we are trying to continue our education whilst a pandemic is going on. Even if you’re frankly indifferent about how students are assessed the students, that this affects, care greatly. Many students are struggling with their mental health as they are now being asked to leave their employment, provide additional childcare for their children and have no physical access to the universities services. This is not an environment conducive to academia.

Many universities across Canada, as well as the University of Regina, have allowed students to influence how they are assessed and what appears on their transcripts at this time and I believe the same privilege should be possible at the University of Saskatchewan

Consider signing this petition to help enact this change.

A desire for education should not be penalized or capitalized on. Students wishing to continue education through these troubling times should be given encouragement financially, not deterred.
