Admit responsibility & apologise for the timetabling problems you've caused

The University of Salford have had months to organise and plan timetables for this academic year, and yet thousands of students across the University were left without timetables up to the day lectures began.
The communication students received from the University was vague, unhelpful and unapologetic, and we would like an apology for the inconvenience it has caused all of us. Students with jobs and those with childcare arrangements have had a nightmare trying to organise their lives without knowing their timetable, and the provisions the University made to deal with the problem were simply inadequate.
We can understand the importance of the transition to electronic timetabling, and can appreciate that technical errors may happen, but lecturers have admitted to us that a big part of the University's fault was making widespread redundancies earlier in the year.
As new students were welcomed to the University last week with £9000 tuition fees, it is simply unacceptable that they should be met with the news that their timetables weren't ready. We urge the University to apologise for their errors rather than passing it off as a technical fault, and finally admit responsibility for a preventable problem that has now tainted the reputation of our University.
