To whom it may concern,

This letter is a result of the students of University of Regina being concerned about our health and safety.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in recent months has shocked the world. Over time the state of the pandemic has gotten nothing but worse. The university is home to over 12,000 students. Many students have not faced a situation such as this before and lack simple knowledge to protect themselves and others. Along with that, many students have lectures that take place in lecture halls with over 100 students. In these halls, seating is extremely close, and students are, at times, less than a foot away from each other. The CDC has stated that the virus can spread person to person with 6 feet. Keeping previous points in mind, it is clear to see that only one infected person can cause an outbreak within the university.

It is the university's job to put into place sufficient countermeasures to protect its staff and students. So far, there has only been evidence of the university staff planning these countermeasures, not putting them in place. This letter is a call to action to university staff to provide previously stated countermeasures so that students and faculty alike can protect themselves against the virus.
