I have had the honor to know Coach Maynard for 31 years. He is a man of integrity and probably one of the most "color-blinded" men I know. He has been a teacher, a role model, a father-figure, a brother-figure and most important a mentor. I witnessed his support to not only football players , but to any student or individual who needed someone to talk to, to lean or simply a smile. He is one of the most positive persons I know. He has given his soul to the University of Redlands.

I am disgusted that someone can take out of context what is said and presumed what someone meant as well as write in their own interpretation. During the last week there have been protests/marches about inequality. Yet, here the university, which is suppose to be a pillar of teaching -- and I would hope integrity -- is doing exactly what police are accused of doing -- using unnecessary measures and false accusations to destroy a man. Ralph Kuncl should be embarrassed he is succumbing to pressure of a few who want their 15-minutes of fame at the expense and reputation of a man of honor.

If you say your former coach is a good man, I trust your word, Corey.

Coach Maynard was my head football coach for just one season after I transferred to U of R from Nebraska Wesleyan University. I could tell from the minute I met Coach Maynard, that he was a man of integrity who loved his players and The University of Redlands. My only regret of my time as part of the Bulldog Football Family, was that I didn’t have the opportunity to play more years for him. He’s a leader of young men and an ambassador for an outstanding university. Releasing him from his duties as coach/instructor/administrator at the university would be a mistake. I’m a firm believe in second chances and given his track record with the University of Redlands, he deserves the benefit of the doubt and an opportunity to remain in his current role/s.

He is not only my Coach right now but one of the most amazing and supportive people I have ever met. He has been nothing but caring and respectful to everyone he has encountered since I've been around him. I have no doubts about this man's character.

I had the honor of playing for coach Maynard 1991-1995. Through Coach and The Bulldog Football Family I’ve achieved some my greatest goals and built life long friendships. I echo a lot of same reasons as my fellow dogs, but last year...when I was dying in the hospital, and through my artificial heart surgery, heart and kidney transplants, and my sternotomy, Coach either texted or called me, checking on my family. Not to mention the on going mentorship that he continues to provide. I’m Samoan, and I’ve many men come through his program- all in which have come and bonded together under Coach Mike Maynard to become better men. His contributions to his players is staff and his community is undeniable. A God fearing man who’s dedicated his life to making a change in the young men he brings to the university to play football. His commitment to his players- men of all nationalities, social and economic status, from the poor to rich, the black, brown, white, Samoan, Mexican, Asian, Middle East...what have you. It’s undeniable how this man has touched and improved the lives of hundreds of young men. Haven’t seen the tweet- don’t care! Some men are cut from a different cloth. I stand with my Coach and my Bulldog Family! #BULLDOGSTRONG

Coach Maynard has always been an honest and caring person. He has always treated all of his players with respect, from the stars to the backups. Coach Maynard taught us how to be men of integrity both on and off the field! The lessons I learned from Coach Maynard, I still use to this day.
