Not only at the University of Ottawa, but at many Canadian universities the tuition costs for international students are unaffordable. This is considering many of the circumstances such as the law that international students can only work 20 hours a week, and the difficulty it takes to attain a permanent residence or a citizenship.

The average cost of tuition for a local student at the University of Ottawa is $6,376 CAD, whereas for an international student it is $25,554 CAD. The difference in tuition is astounding, and is the reason many international students cannot choose to continue their life in Canada.

My own life is being affected by these circumstances, as a very close friend is struggling to afford the expenses it takes to attend the University of Ottawa. She works an above minimum wage job as many hours as she can, and has family support, yet it is still very difficult. As well, the tuition costs are still rising. 

We are not insisting tuition fees be even the same as domestic. But that it is more reasonable.
