The graduating class of 2020 has put in 4+ years of hard work, time, and money. We are owed and have earned the right to a proper commencement ceremony. I propose that the University postpone graduation until the fall so that those who want to walk may walk. Students can still receive their diploma in the Spring, but we should not be given an online ceremony due to this pandemic. 

As it stands the University claims it will not be canceling commencement. The current options are an online ceremony or a stream of the event where only students may show up. However the latter is extremely unlikely as we move closer each day to a statewide shutdown. This would likely leave an online commencement as the only option. Instead of this, we would like a proper ceremony, with cap and gown, to walk like so many before us.

This is why postponing is the best option and we may walk after this pandemic settles down.
