I was a B10 track and field athlete at Nebraska and enjoyed watching my men’s team compete against Minnesota. Minnesota has built an excellent track and field program for the men and women. The cutting of the men’s program will also negatively impact the success of the women’s program. There are many alumni willing to donate to keep the program. Minnesota needs to set their pride aside and allow their alumni base to help their program.
Track has given me some of the best opportunities in my life from as small as new friends, and as big as two college degrees. I can’t imagine the opportunity to be on a DI collegiate track and field team being taken away from current and future athletes. I hope Minnesota doesn’t cut the program!
