Kolin Posterick started this petition to University of Minnesota Duluth staff/students and

Along with countless others in Minnesota and the University system, we are still grieving the death of George Floyd. As a black student, and employee of the university, I was happy to see the support that the University showed for civil rights. After returning to Glensheen from my lunch break, I was confronted by a symbol that has historically been pro-slavery and pro the de-humanization of blacks. After several of my coworkers and I expressed our discomfort and concern over the confederate flag mask, we had been dismissed by our manager and told to "put on your best hospitality face." This had struck me as quiet concerning, considering the 9 insta-slide post supporting our black community.

This petition has been created to help the student body, as well as the faculty to help voice their opinions and beliefs. We as the university community need to prove through our actions that we support our minority communities, even when the university tries to save face.

This petition is to have a new section added to the Universities property rules prohibiting the use of any hate symbols. This would be in conjunction with the already established rules surrounding discrimination and help provide mental safety to all students and employees of the university.
