University of Miami Pass/Fail Deadline Extension

University of Miami Pass/Fail Deadline Extension
Why this petition matters
In a time when many students are burdened by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Miami Administration has decided to allow students to elect to take their courses as Credit/No Credit (Pass/Fail). This is looked favorably upon by many students of the University of Miami, however it presents one glaring problem: the University has set the deadline to make such decision at May 8, while many students have their last exams on May 6. This does not give the professors enough time to grade these exams and allow students to make an informed decision of whether to take the pass/fail option. Along with the proximity between the last day of testing and the decision date, many professors who have been impacted by COVID-19 are currently heavily behind in grading, thus inhibiting many students' ability to accurately assess their standing in the course.
This places an excessive emotional and academic burdon on the students and faculty of the University of Miami, thus this petition formally requests that the University Administration move the C/NC decision date back to AT THE VERY LEAST next Monday (May 11th).
This petition is for the entire University of Miami Community (students, families, faculty, admins) to pursue the common goal of securing the best possible education and environment for those among us. Please consider signing to ensure the University takes this into consideration.
