Chancellor Subaswammy is putting the entire student body, faculty and staff at risk. Testing is not required for students or staff who are vaccinated. There is a huge outbreak of covid cases in vaccinated individuals which is being swept under the rug by the institution. The chancellor needs to address the skyrocketing amount of covid cases and do something about it before we go into a full lockdown. Individuals who have been exposed to covid are not required to quarantine and are encouraged to still attend class by university health services. Students are getting covid test results back 5 days after sending the test in, which is completely unacceptable. We need the covid testing center reopened in the Mullins center and it needs to be properly staffed so we can increase the turnaround times on test results. Furthermore, students and staff regardless of vaccination status should be required to test at least once a week to prevent the outbreak from progressing. UMass Amherst has completely dropped the ball this fall semester and have zero regard for the safely and well-being of students and staff and do not even have to decency to acknowledge that there is a problem.
