INST 490 Capstone Course Availability to take Concurrently with Major Requirements

Large numbers of current Information Science students have found that there are numerous scheduling difficulties associated with the current track of courses for the major. Due to the current track for the required courses, the final capstone course INST490 is ineligible to take concurrently with the 300 level INST classes.
This policy is exclusively presenting complications for the future outlooks of InfoSci students. Due to the cumbersome course availability and stringent registration policies, many students are finding that they will have to take INST490 alone, delaying their prospective graduation date for a full semester. Not only is this a significant waste of students time, as it is presenting issues with possible post-graduate employment or studies, but it will also present great financial difficulties for those affected, as it would cause them to incur "Part-time Student" fees, which are steeper then the "Full-Time" fees.
This issue has been magnified both by the severe lack of availability for Upper Level Elective courses, along with the unexpected resignation of Joanne Briscoe in the middle of the Fall Registration process.
The fact that this policy is exclusively hindering students education, rather then furthering it, means that it is fundamentally a negative policy for the school to hold. An exception must be made for current InfoSci majors, which allows them to enroll in INST490 concurrently with their final 300 level INST courses, to allow graduation after the expected semester, and a preservation of students time and money.
