The new wave of COVID raises new concerns and on going dispute wether we should continue following all the protocols. The main concern is that the new wave is going to peak soon (end of January) and we need to take necessary action.

Many US colleges are already opting for online classes as omicron surges. Especially the first two weeks of classes where omicron is said to reach its highest peak by that time and being on campus at the University of Maryland college park with over thousands of students in one area will not be a safe place for us all during that peak level time.

In order to keep students safe, and have students attending on campus classes for the remaining of spring 2022 we should let the peak wave pass so that we do not all catch the virus and create worse matters.

it is important that university administration move all our classes to an online setting to protect the health of every student, the campus community, and the Prince Georges community as well as the communities across the country and the globe that are home to University of Maryland, College Park students.

we simply can opt for the first two weeks to be online and by doing so we are not creating a whole campus with ill students and ill relatives

If we do not move our classes online the university is promoting an unsafe public health environment that goes against the values of our institution and the UM system.
