Ellie Harris started this petition to University of Manchester

Due to the training grant the UK GOV are giving to nursing students, the university of Manchester seem to think they can now bin the bursary for low income students. This GOV training grant (£5,000) doesn't even cover a years worth of tuition fees (£9,250). The GOV training grant is primarily for advertising the course and to give nursing students an opportunity to afford living costs. Some student's student finance does not cover a years rent. The training grant for some students means they can only just afford accommodation. The nursing course is a full time degree, where students balance placement, academics and due to the financial difficulties, a job. The Manchester Universities £2,000 bursary allows Nursing students to live without financial difficulty. We are being penalised for getting this training grant. Our University has shown no support or loyalty towards the Nursing programme students. Please sign this petition, so that the University can see how unloyal and disrespectful the action they have taken is.
