Install security cameras near bike racks to help capture thieves and vandals.

Our campus and city both promote bike riding, having installed bike racks and bike stations all around campus.
However, two major issues still plauge students and faculty alike: bike theft and vandalism.
I personally have had my rear wheel smashed, and my front wheel stolen in a span of two years. I also personally know many people who have had their bikes stolen or damaged whole parked overnight on campus.
This issue especially plauges students who live in the dorms, who have no space for their bikes in their rooms and have no choice but to park them outside. For many of these students, biking is the only reliable way to get to class or work on time.
It is ridiculous and negligent of the University to not install cameras to protect thousands of dollars of student property for years to come, especially when they have enough money to build a brand new dormitory.
Biking is not only cost effective for students paying thousands of dollars per year on tuition, but is also environmentally friendly as well as healthy. Please Iowa, protect your student and facility's responsible investment.
