Starting March 19, 2019, hundreds of classes at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) have been cancelled since teacher assistants have left the classroom for the Graduate Employees Organization (GEO) strike. This means hundreds to thousands of undergraduate students are losing a large portion of their education, and their assignments are not being graded.

The UIC Administration knew that the GEO was planning this strike several weeks in advance if they didn't give graduate workers a fair contract. As long as the administration refuses to give graduate student workers a fair, livable wage and decrease their excessive fees on these workers, undergraduate students' education will be directly and negatively impacted.

As a result of UIC Administration's damaging actions, undergraduate students are demanding UIC Administration to take the following actions:
- Give tuition partial waivers/refunds, since several classes that students have paid for have been cancelled.
- Midterm retakes, since students have not been able to learn all of the needed material as a result of class cancellation.
- Grade curves for courses, since students that are now working hard to bring their grades up will not have their work recognized during the strike.
- Establish make-up classes in order to learn the material that students missed during the strike.
- Give graduate student workers a fair contract. They contribute to undergraduate students' education--they need a fair wage to live on in order to provide students a quality education.
