Apologize to Chancellor Phyllis Wise and show support to the entire administration.

As many of you may have seen, the response to the inclement weather was abhorrent. The disrespectful comments made about the administration's decision to hold classes per usual were racist, sexist, violent, and extremely terrifying. Chancellor Phyllis Wise is an kind, intelligent woman and should not have been attacked. This attack goes beyond Chancellor Wise and includes various groups such as women, Asian Americans, and other minorities. The vast majority of UIUC students are not so close-minded and hateful. We understand that difficult decisions must be made and the University of Illinois is deeply committed to helping students excel academically and lead bright futures as UIUC alums. If you believe that UIUC students are above such hatred and that this attack was unjust, please take the time to sign this petition to remind your fellow students of the care and concern that administration and staff have for the UIUC community. Please let your peers know that this behavior is unrepresentative of our university and that it cannot be tolerated. On behalf of the student body of the University of Illinois, let us apologize to Chancellor Wise and the administration and show support for their continued involvement at the university.
Please note that this petition is not taking a side on whether classes should have been cancelled but rather standing against unprofessional and personal attacks.
