  • Due to recent events, and the lack of an adequate U.S. response to Covid-19, students nationwide are being affected by this pandemic.

ICE has stated Monday that students who fall under certain visas "may not take a full online course load and remain in the United States," adding, "The U.S. Department of State will not issue visas to students enrolled in schools and/or programs that are fully online for the fall semester nor will U.S. Customs and Border Protection permit these students to enter the United States."

One saving grace however is the University of Houston’s “Hyflex classrooms” these hybrid model classes that mix both online and in person learning are excluded from the provision.

One of the reasons students love The University of Houston is it’s diversity, CollegeFactual writes that UH ”is among the top schools for students from outside the United States. They are ranked 21st out of 1,209 in our Overall Best Value U.S. Colleges & Universities for International Students”. With a International student population of 3,865, and many more on the way, the University must help these students.

The University of Houston prides itself on diversity and this is why myself and many of my peers ask that international students have priority course enrollment for in-person classes for the fall semester.
