We are calling for the University of Hertfordshire to implement a no-detriment policy for both our semester A and B end of year exams and assessments. This past year our university education has been heavily impacted and now COVID19 means we have severely limited access to teaching and resources. We believe that during this tough time we should all be treated fairly just like how last years students were introduced to the no detriment policy.

This petition is asking the University of Hertfordshire to take into account these extraordinary and unprecedented conditions, with the introduction of a no-detriment policy again this year. Many students will be struggling to study in an environment that will not allow them to demonstrate their full potential, as well as being negatively impacted by mental or physical illness during this terrifying time.

This no detriment policy would mean that students would still have to participate in all year assessments, but without the fear that this will negatively impact the grades we have worked so hard towards during our time at university. This would mean that as long as students obtain a pass mark of 40 in further assessments, their average will remain the same as, or higher than the average already attained from previous years. If students achieve higher than their current average in further assessments, they can still raise their final mark.
