University of Glasgow Vegan Society started this petition to University of Glasgow

Glasgow is regularly cited as the vegan capital of Scotland, and one of the top three vegan destinations in the UK. Yet, often at the University of Glasgow, we find ourselves unable to rely on the university to always provide a reasonable choice of plant-based meals on campus.

The understanding of the benefits of eating a plant-based diet and how this actively combats climate change, animal suffering, and can lead to improved health on average has become mainstream knowledge. It would be uncommon in 2019 to find someone who isn’t consciously trying to reduce their animal product intake; people are actively trying their best to consume more vegan options.

Over the past couple of years, companies have been incredible in increasing their vegan meal options and we encourage the university to get on board with this change. This is not a fad, but the clear direction the world is moving in.

We believe that increasing the variety of vegan options on campus will benefit both the university and the students. Students will be less likely to seek food elsewhere, sales will go up, and students will be able to eat ethically and healthily more affordably.

If you would like to see more vegan/plant-based options on campus at affordable prices, please sign and share this petition. We want to do everything we can to make life better for the students, the environment and all that live here; small steps like this can make a huge difference.
