Abby Warrick started this petition to University of Glasgow senior management

I am currently a 4th year student at the University of Glasgow, Dumfries Campus. Every year of my study, myself and my year group have been affected by the industrial action taken by University lecturers.

I personally support the right to strike and believe all lecturers are doing this for the right reason. I am, however completely appalled at the lack of communication or effort to support students and staff from University’s Senior Management. My campus is fantastic and we have motivational and engaging lecturers, but I would be lying if I said my university experience hadn’t been tainted by the many lectures I have missed out on.

Every year of study, myself and peers have missed out on valuable time with our lecturers and we have completely missed out some subject areas. We have always been told we will not be examined in the areas we have not been taught which at the time seemed fair enough. Until you get to 4th year and you realise the enormity of the skills and knowledge you have missed out on!
We are undertaking our dissertations this year where we are to consolidate all our learning, much of it we haven’t had, such as data analysis.
This is extremely concerning to me as a soon to be graduate. How can I possibly compete in the job market against someone who had a full university experience a few years ago?
We have had little in the way of communication, support or reimbursement for our inconvenience and have been seriously disadvantage by the University of Glasgow’s inability to rectify the strike action.
