In the city of Gainesville Florida there is a large issue of homelessness. The homeless population can be seen throughout the city and heavily congregated on the outskirts of campus. Putting the homeless into housing is the only true solution to homelessness. Due to the University of Florida, there is a huge lack of affordable housing in Gainesville. As of now, the University has done little to solve the problem of homelessness and has instead tried to ignore the issue by keeping any homeless individuals off of campus. With the brains, money, and resources that the University has they could easily create a program that provides temporary apartments for the homeless at an affordable price to help them get on their feet. Sign this petition to encourage the University of Florida to create this type of program and do their part in helping the homeless in its community.
