UF President Kent Fuchs is taking away a cherished Florida Gators tradition with no real reason. He has twisted this to follow a narrative.

"While I know of no evidence of racism associated with our "Gator Bait" cheer at UF sporting events, there is horrific historic racist imagery associated with the phrase," - Kent Fuchs

You can find negativity in anything, if you look hard enough. In this case, he said it himself that he knows of no evidence of this being racist. He is basing this off of him looking hard for a reason to make it racist.

As Gators, none of us EVER thought of racism when we heard this chant. If anything, it’s the opposite. This united us and got us hyped for the next big play. The great Lawrence Wright said it best, “ If you aint a Gator, you must be GATOR BAIT!”

Don’t stay quiet! Let UF know! President@ufl.edu
