Why this petition matters

Hello

I am a student at the University of Dundee with severe Dyslexia and Asperger's. At this time the University of Dundee is not currently providing extra time for students taking computer marked assessments (CMAs) who are deemed to require it by the disability services.

These CMAs count to part of the final module grades especially for first years. You normally only get one chance to pass these and they are timed. The University states that because these CMAs are open book and can be taken off campus and have a small amount of extra time added to them that they are meeting the needs of students who have disabilities that effect their reading and understanding skills.

I feel that this is not true especially when they require you to answer 29 long worded multiple-choice questions in 30 minuets as one CMA required. The university has provided a CMA with the extra time required by disabled students showing that they are able to do so.

I am hoping to gain backing from University of Dundee students and those who know them to petition the university to make reasonable adjustments to their policy for CMAs to allow extra time as they should do under the Equality Act.
