Covid-19 has not disappeared, but all safety protocols surrounding the virus seem to have been dropped. Student's are attending with symptoms, without wearing masks and lecturers have been given no clear guidance on what they can do in these situations. Many of us have vulnerable people at home or are vulnerable ourselves and we deserve to feel safe while paying for our education. We can choose to access public areas of the university such as the Atrium, but we are unable to choose to distance learn, as such we have no option but to attend our lectures in person and risk getting coronavirus. We're asking the University of Derby to put the safety of their students and students' families first and make mask wearing in lectures compulsory again.
