Campuses of University of Colorado throughout Colorado pose a great risk of infection/transmission of the COVID-19 novel Coronavirus to both the students and the staff. Close the campuses and offer online classes for all classes until further notice to ensure the safety of all UCCS members. Many other schools have already closed, and preemptive measures are far more effective then reactionary.

Getting infected with the virus puts older faculty, family members, and the community at large at risk. Many of the University of Colorado campuses are near or the center of major population density. Keeping the school open is reckless and is bound to spread the virus unnecessarily. Classes can be offered online and should be for our safety. I do not want to get my family sick and neither do any other students.

It is time to be proactive and assume that the lack of testing does not mean a lack of cases. They are out there around us, and they are spreading the virus. As of writing this petition, there are already 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Colorado, and it's foolish to assume community spread has not already started. Work proactively for our safety and close the campus.
