Local Compost Site for CU Boulder

Right now, the University of Colorado spends nearly $70,000 annually in transportation costs to send our food waste (compost) to an industrial site over 60 miles away from Boulder.
At Boulder Compost, our mission is to collect food waste from the University of Colorado dining halls and establish a local compost site in Boulder County. We will use the food waste to create a high quality, affordable compost to sell to local farmers.
Alternative to synthetic fertilizers, research has confirmed that utilizing compost as a soil amendment enhances crop yields, improves soil health and sequesters carbon from the atmosphere.
Keeping the nutrients in our food as local as possible benefits the environment, the community and the economy.
Join our movement and sign the petition to assist Boulder Compost's mission to establish a local compost site.
