Closing MarketPointe from December until next fall will pose many problems for students attending the University of Cincinnati. Many students, living at Siddall specifically, rely on MarketPointe for their three daily meals. Closing MarketPointe will defer students to other Dining Halls such at Center Court and On the Green, which are already overcrowded. The reasons for renovating MarketPointe are unnecessary and a waste of funds. MarketPointe already has enough seating to account for students.  In addition, and the transition to mobile ordering is not needed nor desired. MarketPointe recently switched the coffee machine to mobile which has continually demonstrated  failure. The process takes far to long and without a phone, students cannot receive a drink. The transition to “Handsfree” machines are not preventing the spread of viruses, as no one wears a mask while eating the building. MarketPointe does not need immediate renovations and shall remain open the remainder of the year.
