Helen Sokha started this petition to University of Central Arkansas's president - Houston Davis

University of Central Arkansas is an institution that is capable of teaching students; however, they were not totally honest with their students and failed to meet some standards set forth in its Mission Statement, available online here (http://uca.edu/about/mission/

After learning and captivating the idea of how powerful and effective student protests can be, a group of UCA students created a list of demands which we feel will be resolved by pressing issues at this institution. The lists are as follows:

We demand the university to implement Project-Based Learning (PBL) because we believe the lecture teaching format sets students up for failure. This idea was also introduced dated back to 1968, when French students set out to protest for a change in their learning system.

We demand accommodation for people with hearing impairments in day-to-day situations. In addition, we suggest having an in-person class and having FM transmitters. Due to the pandemic situation, they can no longer read lips because of facial coverings.

We demand having LGBTQ inclusivity in literature and history books because they are oftentimes being overlooked.

We demand for more on-campus jobs for students, which is a really great opportunity to build the resume and network with the public.

We demand an assurance that there are free feminine products available daily in the restroom throughout the campus. There will be times where women did not prepare for the situation beforehand and needed a place where they could find one.
